Happy Memorial Day!!! Heads up! We’ve had a busy couple of weeks. Let us catch you up real quick!
First stop:
Goodspero visits the KUHF 88.7 FM News studio to talk with host, Andrew Schneider, on Bauer Business Focus.
Check out the interview here! : Bauer Business Focus: Jessica Bolaños, Goodspero
Q1: You were running a multimedia marketing company (Evident Empire Media) during your first year at the Wolff Center. What led you to shift your focus from that to promoting literacy in developing nations?
Q2: How does Goodspero work, and what have you accomplished so far?
Q3: How do you apply your training in entrepreneurship to your literacy campaign and more generally, to building and managing a nonprofit enterprise?
Many thanks to Amanda and Chase from the Bauer Communications Department for connecting us with the community! Go NPR!
Second Stop:
We swooped by Platform Houston to check out some crowdfunding talks.
It was a pretty sweet two day deal. Ethan Perlstein, Ph. D spoke the first night and wowed everyone with his detailed correlation charts, graphs and all out data gathering awesomeness from his meth lab crowdfund campaign. The second night was headlined by RocketHub CEO and all time ukulele ninja master, Brian Meece. Big topics were discussed including Whitepaper 2.0, the “Implementation of Crowdfunding” section of Title III of the JOBS Act, championed by Brian and his team. The U.S. may be the first country to pass legislation allowing equity to play a role in crowdfunding start up projects. An all out game changer!
High five Brian!
Keep an eye out for Project Startup on A&E. They’re doing big things!
Final Stop!
We met Pablo Sanchez in February during Career & Education Day at the George R Brown. He teaches at Sterling High School and was looking to do something cool for the students. We stayed in touch and with Sybil Sanchez’s help, Univision‘s Community Affairs Coordinator, were able to give them a sneak peek behind the scenes at Univision TV and Radio.
Amazing young inspiring minds!
